New Yoga Studio Opening

My good friend is opening a community based yoga studio this weekend.  I am so happy that I get to be a part of something bigger than myself.  Last night after seeing the Dalai Lama I was with her in the space getting it ready for today.  It's better than I could have imagined.  Rooms are beautiful filled with inspiring art.  It's zen.  It's inviting.  No mirrors in the class rooms.  A place for people to come and try all styles of yoga.  I'll be teaching at Ritual 5 days a week and excited to see how bringing back authentic yoga to the community of Laguna Beach will change things... in a good way!

Ritual Yoga Arts is a new yoga studio opening in Laguna Beach.  The Grand Opening is today, on Earth Day.   Join me as I teach a kick off class from 12:00 - 1:00pm (Vinyasa Flow).  Classes are donation based with money going to charity.

Meeting the Dalai Lama

Yes - Today I am going to see the Dalai Lama.  So excited.  Smiling even without having any espresso this morning.  After teaching two yoga classes I'm heading off to Long Beach to partake of some wisdom.  I've been reading his book "The Art of Happiness" and find it so intriguing.  Makes one look at happiness differently and creates a shifting worldview.  Enlightening if I do say so myself.
I have no idea what to expect...  I have no idea what to wear...  :)  What does a girl wear when she's off to see a holy figure?  Ahhh, the things that go through my mind!
After meeting his holiness I'm jaunting off to Santa Monica pier where the International Music and Yoga Festival - TADASANA is held.  Loads of concerts and fun events dedicated to this Earth Day Weekend.  Stay tuned for pictures and an update on my time with the Dalai Lama.
Sometimes I just have to pinch myself... after I figure out what to wear :)

Wine Tasting

Today I am going wine tasting with a good friend.  The last time we went wine tasting together was on a lush vineyard of our friends in Italy.  Today we are headed off to not so much Tuscany, but rather traveling to Temecula.  It's my day off and we are going to check out some vineyards.  The wine tasting is scheduled at noon.  Ummm, I don't think that is so smart.  I can just see the two of us by 4pm... must pace myself.
After this fun I think I'm going to detox from alcohol.  I'm not a huge fan of it anyway and I think it would do my body some good.  Many of my friends have stopped drinking and I see how much brighter and lighter their faces shine.  So yes, today after my wine tasting festivities - I'm turning to mostly nighttime tea.  :)

Yoga to Live DJ

In the last month I had the opportunity to teach 4 yoga workshops to a live DJ.  It was so much fun.  My friend DJ Hyfi is Philly based and works with some of the top yoga instructors spinning beats live.  Yes, he creates the base beat as people get their down dogs on.  It's pretty amazing.  The music is uplifting, electronic, and leaves one feeling happy and lighter.  For those of you who came out to rock it with me as I taught electric vinyasa flow yoga classes with live music - thank you.  It was a blast.  DJ Hyfi will be back in town late June - stay tuned for another yoga workshop taught to live music.  I guarantee you'll leave with your positive groove on.  :):)

I think I have Turrets...

Not kidding - random things are coming out of my mouth!
One might call it funny; I think I have turrets...  Embarrassing yoga moment number 28:  I have a new job working at a very very nice studio.  At the end of a yoga flow, I told the women to bring their feet together, rock from side to side, and MASSAGE THEIR SHIT BONES!  What is wrong with me?!?!  I do not know where that came from.  I meant to say Massage Your Sit Bones.  If you could only have seen the look on their faces.  I could not stop laughing.  They were not laughing...
Just earlier this year I told people in my yoga class to take a deep breath in, exhale out, and FOCUS ON THEIR BREASTS.  Again, what is wrong with me?!?!  I do not know where that came from either.  I meant to say Focus on Your Breath.  What can I say, I'm a little on the goofy side.
I promise I'm not a pervy yoga teacher...  I just think I have turrets
