Benefits of YOGA

Yoga benefits the body on both a mental and physical level.  Research has shown the Hatha form of yoga to help prevent, heal or alleviate conditions such as: asthma, diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, and cardiovascular risk factors including cholesterol.  When practicing yoga, benefits include: increased flexibility, improved range of motion, stress-relief, toned muscles, detoxification, and relaxation.
Restorative Yoga, also known as Yin Yoga, helps to rejuvenate the body through the practice of relaxing in postures that are restorative to the body.  Restorative Yoga is beneficial to athletes as well as individuals coming off of an injury.  When relaxing the body in restful postures, students find that restorative yoga increases energy levels, calms the mind, and contributes to better sleep.
Hatha and Restorative Yoga run parallel, complimenting Physical Therapy.  The combination of PT and Yoga synergistically create a balance of body awareness and strength.  As I have returned to CA and currently work at a PT Studio teaching yoga, I am seeing how the form of asanas can make a significant impact in the lives of others...
